New stuff, 8.000 meters of aluminium and tv shows

It’s been almost six weeks since the end of our Kickstarter campaign. Time rides. We are working incredibly hard on all fronts and we are eager to update you on everything newsworthy that has happened since then.

Infento new cool stuff

When we started with crowdfunding we already produced education kits for schools. With these kits you can build all our bigger rides. What we still need to build from scratch are a lot of parts for our Snow and E-drive Add-ons as well as parts to complete our Junior Kit. We are happy to tell you that we are making good progress in this regard.

Angle limiter for Junior Kit
Our little ones also deserve cool Infento rides. But it’s only cool when it’s safe. That’s why we invented the angle limiter. The kids can now only make a maximum angle while steering. This prevents them to make turns that are too sharp. We received the angle limiter last week and they fit perfectly.

Skibock + Ski Mount
For our first prototype of the Skibock we 3D printed a part to mount our aluminum profiles to the ski. Based on this design we did several tests and in the end we came up with the part you see below. It can handle a lot of weight(yes, remember, the Skibock is for grown-ups also!) and sudden bumps when you slide down the snowy hill. Mission accomplished. So we placed a first order for thousand of these ski mounts.

Mini Ski
We received the most important part of our Junior Snow Add-on last Wednesday: the Infento Mini Ski. Next to throwing snowballs, you now have another reason to look forward to a white winter.

Skitter G2 Ride

New 8 inch lightweight rim
We redesigned our rim for the bigger wheels in our kits. This was quite some work, but we are very happy with the result. They are lighter than our first version and are more simple in the setup. You can attach the disc brake in a snap. This looks pretty neat, doesn’t it?

Aluminum profiles are in the works

Aluminum extrusion profiles are a fundamental part of the concept behind Infento.

Ok, so that was the “why aluminum” intro. Why this intro? Well….. we just ordered these square beauties. A lot of them. Our backers ordered more than 700 kits through Kickstarter. And if you would put all the profiles in these kits in one line you get about 5 miles or 8 kilometers of aluminium profiles. If your kid rides a cool Infento ride with the same speed as walking it would take your little one 1.5 hours to reach the end of the aluminum line. A serious workout for sure!

A look at the aluminum factory

Who did we contract to manufacture the first 8.000 meters of aluminum extrusion profiles? We picked Sapa, the world leader in aluminum solutions. They have 23.500 employees in 40 countries and their headquarters are located in Oslo, Norway. Our extrusion profiles will be manufactured in The Netherlands, a home match for us since our headquarters are in Amsterdam as most of you know. Here are some pics from the factory where the Infento profiles are being produced:

Infento on Norwegian and Swiss TV

Our Kickstarter success didn’t go unnoticed in the media. We receive a lot of requests, but we do not jump at every gig being offered. We are with a small team and need full focus in setting up a great company. Requests from Norwegian and Swiss television got our full approval though. In these two shows real families test cool stuff together with their kids. We love these kind of shows since kids are always honest and will tell you right away if something sucks or not. Camera or no camera.

So where did we end up? In Norway you could see our rides at Forbrukerinspektørene. Every Norwegian knows this show. It is the biggest TV show of Norway. Normally 50% of all the people watching TV tunes in at this show. Cool!! Famous host Pia Rivelsrud tested our rides together with her twins. Here you can see her little 4 year old boy testing the strength of our Bulldog.

And later on Pia won the Infento family race. Pia: don’t you know our rides are for kids? And maybe you got carried away too much with riding the Bulldog? Your cute twins would like to win the race also :-).

This Wednesday you can get on the roof and point your satellite dish towards Switzerland. Infento will be featured on the show Gadget Box. This time the show is all about home and family gadgets. Gadget Box has a market share of almost 20% of Swiss TV. We will tell you in the next update how this went down.

Next time you will not have to wait almost six weeks for our next update. For our first update after the campaign we wanted to wait until we could show you some new real stuff. No drawings. No 3D graphics. But real parts straight from the factory. And designing, producing and shipping real stuff takes time. Weeks pass by quickly. Mister Musk: maybe you can focus on a Star Trek replicator alongside electric cars and launching rockets to Mars?

In our next update we will give you a small overview of all the stuff we are working on. It’s a lot. Hard work, but also a lot of fun. Taking a company to the next level brings so much positive energy. Thanks again for all the support!

Keep on riding, we see you at the next turn!

Team Infento

PS  Is it aluminium or aluminum? We had to look it up and Wikipedia had the answer. Aha. This update the Americans won.
